A spectacular showpiece in your kitchen: Dacor RNR30NIC, induction range : cooktop + oven (Review)

Dacor is a premium innovator manufacturer of American kitchen appliances, that offers luxurious solutions, ultra-modern features, and impressive designs.

Dacor RNR30NIC is part of a wider induction-topped range in Dacor’s “Renaissance” line and it includes induction cooktop with 4 burners + electric oven.

The “Renaissance” series has 2 main ranges:
1. slide-in
2. freestanding

and each range has 4 types of items:
– 2 with stainless steel
– 2 available in color match style (a unique concept of Dacor, that allows you to select between 10 standard colors or choose a color swatch already matched).

Each finish version has 2 styles of over-door handle:
1. Flush
2. Epicure stainless steel with chrome frame.

So the “Renaissance” line has 8 variants, and the item we are going to review in this article, Dacor RNR30NIC is a slide-in type with a color-match finish and Epicure door handle.

1. Oven

Dacor RNR30NIC includes an oven with a generous interior capacity of 4.8 ft3 where you can cook two big turkeys at the same time. The electric oven has six cooking modes:

1. pure convection – for bake goods and numerous rack cooking;
2. convection bake – fo single rack foods placed in a deep pan;
3. convection roast – combines top and bottom heat sources using the convection fan. Perfect for cooking turkeys, rib roasts, and chickens;
4. convection broil – ideal for thinner cuts of meat and fish;
5. bake – uses only the bottom heat source;
6. broil – uses only a top heat source

Preset Temperature Settings
a) Bake – 350°F
b) Convection bake – 325°F
c) Pure Convection – 325°F
d) Convection roast – 375°F
e) Broil – 555°F
f) Convection broil – 555°F

It includes two GlideRacks with handles designed to be pulled outside very easy and support heavy cookware full of food. Flexibility is another great pro, because depending on your cookware and what you want to cook, you can adjust these two oven racks to 7 positions.

Forget about hard cleaning to an oven, because now you can remove the 2 racks to clean them properly and set the oven to clean itself automatically in about 30 minutes (and we are talking about steam-clean, not about using hight heat or detergents with chemicals). Detailed information about Care and Cleaning for the convection filter and the meat probe may be read in the User Manual.

The oven features Digital Temperature Probe, that allows you to set it to Automatic Hold the moment the wanted interior temperature is achieved. To ensure clear view while the food is cooked inside the oven, Dacor’s engineers have designed a large enough window made of tempered glass and halogen Lighting with 20W.

2. Controls

Simplicity – this is the word I would use to describe the control panel. Each cooking zone has its own controls, commands are extremely intuitive and the control panel is angled.

Here is what touchpads and indicators you will find on the control panel:

– On/ Off control – use it to turn on the cooking zone
– Power Level Up (►) – use it to increase the power level
– Power Level Down (◄) – use it to decrease the power level
– Power Light – when the cooking zone is functioning it stays on
– “NO pan detected” indicator
– Power-Level Indicators
– Residual heat Indicators
– Power Boost Indicator
– Heating element position icon

In what concerns the Control Panel Layout you will find the next features on it:

– Cooking Mode selector: Conv Bake, Bake, Conv Broil, Broil, Pure Conv, Probe, Conv Roast, Self Clean
– Timer 1 and Timer 2 that operate separately – help you time a cooking event. It can be set from 1 minute up to 99 hours and 59 minutes.
– Clock – use it to set the clock
– Number keypad – to set the temperature, cook time or the clock
– Start – Continue
– Cancel – Secure key
– Delay Time
– the display offers useful information about the oven, the current time, current cook, temperature.

The cooktop allows an instant switch between melt, simmer, and sear. You can select from 11 levels of temperature so we can say it offers fine precision for best results.

3. Surface

The black surface has stainless steel frames and is easy to use. In the Manual customers will find extremely interesting and useful instructions and tips on how to best clean the surface, what agents to use and what is the technique to consider for different types of dirt.

For example, sugar and tomato spills should be removed immediately, while the surface is still hot. You can use a plastic spatula.

Customers are advised to avoid cleaners like those that contain chlorine bleach or ammonia, caustic, flammable and abrasive cleaners as all these may discolor, scratch or stain the cooktop surface.

To avoid unwanted scratches just use clean cookware and remove gritty food spills quickly as they get to the surface. Scratches can not be removed, but they won’t affect the cooktop performances.

4. Heating Elements

The cooktop has 4 circular cooking zones (with 4 heating elements under each of them) that offer precise and powerful heat distribution. All of them allow you to Power Boost.

Here is how the heating elements are positioned:
• 2.2 kW on front left – it measures 5-1/2-inch diameter
• 2.8 kW on back left – it measures 7-3/4-inch diameter
• 2.2 kW on front right – it measures 5-1/2-inch diameter
• 2.8 kW on back right – it measures 7-3/4-inch diameter

The heating elements feature heat limiters in order to ensure a safe operating temperature for the glass surface. Every heating element automatically cycles on and off, but on a higher power, the induction element will be on for a longer time.

5. Power/Watts

The electrical requirements are 240 Voltage with 50 Amperes and the maximum power reaches 10.0 kW.

6. Sensors

There is a pan/pot detection sensor that automatically detects a compatible or incompatible cookware. If the pan you want to use is not detected by the unit, you should verify if its bottom is indeed magnetic and not too small. If no cookware is detected within 30 seconds the unit will eventually shut off.

According to the manufacturer, the SenseTech Induction Sensor will automatically “feel” the presence and size of any compatible pan/ pot and what is really interesting is that the energy will match only to its bottom, so there is no residual heat loss.

7. Ventilation

The air vents should not be obstructed or else the cooktop will display error and automatically shut off.

8. Safety Features

There are a lot of reasons why this cooktop + oven is very safe for the users.

It will automatically shut off if the electricity goes above the requested power (like voltage fluctuations).

For safety purpose, when you are not using the oven you can select the Safety Lock-Out control and disable the control panel keys.

Also, as a safety measure, the unit is provided with a residual heat indicator. When this is
on, you should not touch the surface because it may be too hot.

9. Accessories

No cookware ready for induction is included in the price. You have to purchase special compatible cookware with a magnetic bottom (unless you already have it) and according to Dacor you should look for cookware that is less than 1/2 inch larger in diameter for each cooking zone.

However in the pack, you will find the manual, Planning Guide, the warranty, 2 glide racks for the oven and a razor blade scraper.

Compatible accessories like Broil-Roasting Pan Set, Cookie Sheets, and Baking Stone are optional and can be ordered separately from Amazon or directly from Dacor.

10. Dimensions

Dacor RNR30NIC measures 29 15/16″ width, 35″ to 37″ height (adjustable) and 23 3/8″ depth (to the rear of front panel).

For complete dimensions and instructions on how to find the best position for this cooktop + oven in your kitchen, you can read the manufacturer’s Planning Guide that you will find in the pack.
