Alipu SM15-A79 – low priced, high-powered induction cooktop

The LSE Lighting 1500W induction cooktop is an entry-level lightweight cooktop with a sleek look and top-notch features.

Before getting into details, we should warn you that there are two versions of this cooktop which you might find mixed together around the web: the LSE Lighting version and the AILIPU version, manufactured in China.

The AILIPU version may vary in color (there are some green cooktops on display on some sites) but the two variants are technically the same. There is, however, an AILIPU version that looks pretty much the same, but has a top power of 1800W and is almost half the weight of the LSE unit.

Now let’s see what the LSE has to offer. At a first glance, it is a single element cooktop with a black glossy finish and some floral ornaments on the sides for better looks.

1. Controls

The controls, conveniently placed at lower part of the device, provide an easy operation of the appliance. There is the ON/OFF power button, the timer and the power setting buttons and the intelligent functions buttons, all around a four-digit LCD display.

The built-in timer has 1 minute increment steps up to 170 minutes, thus allowing for a very exact setting of the cooking time. Furthermore, the temperature can be set from 140°F to 460°F , while the ten power levels range from 200W to 1500W, making it very easy to reach the desired cooking settings.

If that is not enough, the LSE-INDUCT 1500W has seven special functions – Fry, Hot Pot, Barbecue, Steam, Soup, Water, Milk – conveniently preset for the most used operations.

2. Surface

The surface is made of black crystal glass with a shiny finish, but which is quite sensitive and fragile, therefore extra care must be taken when using the appliance in order to avoid scratching or other damage to the cooking surface.

3. Heating Elements

There is only one single heating element which can accommodate pots or pans with a maximum diameter of 10”. The 100% copper coil underneath it ensures a trouble-free cooking experience with little time taken to reach the desired result.

4. Power/Watts

The blunt specs of the LSE-INDUCT 1500W are the following: 120V and 15A, 100-120V 50/60Hz, the standard in the USA, with a top power of 1500W. However, installation is quite easy as long as the requirements are met. If in doubt, it’s advisable to have a qualified technician take care of the installation, to avoid the risk of injuries and/or damage to the unit or the house wiring.

5. Sensors and Safety Features

Being an low-end induction cooktop, you would expect the LSE 1500W to have little to offer in terms of safety features and sensors. Yet it has some quite good features here , too:

– an auto pan detection sensor which will automatically turn the device off after 60 seconds if no pot or pan is present;
– an overheating protection sensor to avoid damage to the heating element;
– low/high voltage protection system that prevents the appliance from running outside the normal voltage ratings
– an auto shut off feature that turns the device off after a minute of inactivity.

There is, reportedly, an internal error system for troubleshooting the most common errors, but unfortunately we could not find any details about such a system, so we are going to take this with some reserve until proven otherwise.

6. Ventilation

The LSE-INDUCT 1500W does not require special ventilation measures as long as there is a minimum safety distance around the device.

7. Accessories

Being an induction cooktop, the LSE-INDUCT 1500W can only be used with induction-ready cookware, such as cast iron and stainless steel pots or other types of cookware specifically marked as suitable for induction cooking.

There are scarcely any comments, reviews or ratings available on-line for this product, except for a short comment from one user which was very fond of his/her new LSE cooktop. Perhaps being a low-end device with not so many functions and features, it did not reach the sales level that would generate a lot of debate about it on specialized selling sites.
