The unit allows one-touch operation and the controls are intuitive and very well marked on the control panel that is placed at your sight.
There is the Power Botton on the right, the adjustment keys (down and up arrows) that will help you set the temperature and the time, the LCD display on the left, the digital timer key with a clock icon on it and 5 power levels for warming, slow cooking, boiling and steaming. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly what is the maximum time you can set on it.
2. Surface
The black surface is made of ceramic glass and, like any other induction plates it is easy to clean. On Chard ICT-2 the plate is a little bit higher than the control panel.
3. Heating Elements
Chard ICT-2 has one single heating element and the cooking area is marked with two white rings. In order to begin cooking you should place the cookware right in the middle of it. You can use vessels of 4 to maximum 11 inches.
4. Power/Watts
Chard Induction Cooktop has a power of 1400W. We cannot say this is one of its strengths because there are similar cooktops providing a greater power.
5. Sensors
The unit has sensors that detect how much ferrous metal is in the area and if it does not detect at least as a small pan, it will not turn on.
This is for safe reasons because the cooktop will not turn on if you put your hand with a bracelet or ring on your finger next to it.
In order to turn on, the heating element needs to detect a pan or pot with a magnetic bottom. Moreover, when the sensor doesn’t detect the pan anymore while in function (if you remove it from the cooking area) the element will instantly stop heating the surface.
6. Ventilation
You have to be careful and ensure good ventilation for this cooktop. Place it on a flat and stable surface. You will observe it has air vents that are designed to cool the device.
You should never obstruct them or put strange objects near them. Just let the cooktop “breathe” normally while in function.
7. Safety Features
Because the surface stays cool, there will be no burned fingers or hands. Not for you nor especially for children that stay by your side while you cook.
Because the heating element transfers the energy only to massive magnetic bottoms, you can place your hand over the cooking area while setting it on a maximum level and you will see nothing happens.
Plus, while the heating element is functioning, all the energy goes to the magnetic cookware. While gas stoves have special risks because there are open flames and the air in the kitchen can be polluted, with induction cooktops like Chard ICT-2 such risks just disappear.
Moreover, Chard ICT-2 is equipped with an overheating safety feature. This means if it ever overheats for some reason, it will automatically shut off.
8. Accessories
Unfortunately, with so little information about this product we can only suppose it comes with an instruction guide in the pack.
However, the buttons are so very well marked that you will surely understand how you can use it right from the beginning.
Of course, it comes with a power cord that allows you to connect it to an electrical outlet.
But in what concerns the cookware, you must understand that induction cooktops like Chard ICT-2 need special pans and pots with a flat and magnetic bottom. If the pan has curves or other decorations on the bottom it will not heat evenly, even if it is magnetic.
So the advice is first to verify if any pan or pot you already have in your kitchen is induction ready. If not, it is necessary to buy new induction ready cookware. In each way, you can test the bottom of the cookware using a magnet.
9. Dimensions
The shipping weight of this nice induction cooktop is 5.3 pounds, but it actually weights only 4.7 pounds. It has small sizes, very alike to other similar products: 13.2 inches length, 11.1 inches width and 2.2 inches height.
Although you can observe it is very slim, the cooking surface is resistant and you can use even larger pans and pots without being afraid it will not bear it.
